Now.. a bit about me:

I’ve been at the forefront of technology since I was a child. One of my first projects was building an electric generator for my grade 6 science fair. Since that time, I’ve always been fiddling with computers and electronics of all kinds. Remember the time before the Intel Pentium? I sure do. I was always confused by the “Turbo” button and why it made my games run faster. The concept of “clock speed” wasn’t exactly something they taught in elementary school.

As I continued to grow, it became very clear that engineering was my calling. I was laser focused in my studies and eventually graduated from the Electrical Engineering program at the University of Toronto (class of 0T7).

Since then, I’ve worked at a variety of places as a Software Engineer. As with most new graduates, I found my first job at a startup. From there I grew up at IBM, learning what I could until I finally found my new calling in cybersecurity at Proofpoint.

I’ve been at Proofpoint a long time (coming up on 15 years). What started as a normal software development job grew into a team lead, architect and security lead for their Archiving product. As I learned more about cybersecurity it slowly became my main focus. After many years as an architect and software developer, I transitioned to Global Information Security (GIS) and now handle product security for some of our largest and most important products.

Through my various experiences, I’ve become a competent lead software designer, security expert and technology communicator. I’ve conducted various training seminars and have a knack for explaining complicated issues in lay terms.

I’m always willing to help other people understand technology, cybersecurity or science of any kind. Whether it’s giving seminars and lectures, or, helping you prep for trial. A lot of technology can seem daunting, but, I promise I can help penetrate that veil and give you the understanding you need to achieve your goals.
